Hi i have a full Lanzar system (sorry i do not know the model numbers or any thing like that off the top of my head, but this should not be an issue with what i have questions about.
My receiver has 11 different color settings, and i have it on bright blue (there is a different option that is a dimmer blue) and just with my receiver on at night it illuminates me pretty well. (I have a hatchback) and my amplifier is bolted to my back seats (folded down) and my amp has 5 LED's on it that face upward which also illuminates my car even more (blue as well). My subwoofer box, I have a dual bandpass system, 4 ports and fiberglass facing toward the front of my car. Keeping in mind my seats are down, I have 1 15" LED for every 2 ports and another 2 15" led strips in the middle of my enclosure on the inside of my fiberglass (top and bottom). (all blue)
This ultimately makes my car very illuminated (blue) in the dark. Also more information i live in a relatively small town in upstate NY bur, often use the highway and go into larger parts of the city like Albany.
thanks so much if any one can tell me any thing about the laws.:)

Do they flash?  If they do not flash and they can no way be confused for emergency vehicle lighting, I really see no way that they could be illegal.

No they do not flash, i was just wondering because i know its illegal to have "street glow" or underglow on while driving, so i wasn't sure if it was the same concept inside your car. I have had some people "flash" me while driving at night with their headlights and I dont know what they were getting at if it was just that my car was illuminated on the inside?
thanks again

It's borderline. Blue, red, green and amber typically mean something, blue is often associated with law enforcement. They could have two ways to harass you, impersonating a LEO (hard to do since your lights don't flash), but if it's very bright, they could cite operating an unsafe vehicle or unsafe manor. Basically, LEO can decide to pull you for a variety of reasons and sometimes they justify it with a ticket. I can't see you being arrested for just that though. However all depends on the jurisdiction and the officer.
I would say, don't take the chance. Detune the brightness in some manor. By the way, I am pro-LEO, don't take this wrong.

in the state where i live and in the ones next to me like Arizona, lighting or anything different can be up to the descretion of the officer. the way they do it is like this, if they "feel" that lighting can be a "distraction" to other drivers on the road or yourself, then you will be cited and given a ticket or have to appear in court and let a judge decide. this goes for any type of lighting inside or outside, neon or led or any type of lighting period. lowriders that are too low to the ground or trucks that are jacked a mile high are illegal as well if it is deemed that in an accident they would go right over a car of standard height or be too low for a car of standard height. they do not say lighting or lifted trucks are illegal, but rather if they cause distractions or will be unsafe to others beyond a reasonable amount, then they are illegal and must be changed or a judge can have dmv revoke registration. i dont think its hardly enforced at all, but like i say its all up to the officer.

Going back to what the person above said, about dimming it, how do i do that? where would i find a dimmer? (its on a switch now On/Off) would the dimmer come after that switch in the wiring, or is there a dimmer that would also turn it off? thanks alot im just starting my experience in car audio and still need helpLED Inside Your Car Illegal? -- posted image.

I don't believe you can do much to dim a led electronically. However there are translucent paints available that will reduce the amount of light that shines. Tint film, tail light paint, light filters are just some ideas to reduce the intensity of the light.

Some amps have a switch that you can true some of the leds off as for the other ones put a inline switch on them. Gou can wire them individual or one big master . But make sure the amperage is right for the switch

being that they are LED i doubt if all of them on at the same time even draw 5 amps.
