Finally, I think it was the ring around the cylinder.It's been working consistently now(below 40 degrees temp) for 4 days-1st crank and it starts. Thank you all especially to Mike M2. I did as you suggested last post(11/30/08). Removed the shroud around the key cylinder and lo and behold, the installer made a makeshift ring around it. He wrapped copper wire around the cylinder and put a vinyl wire protector over the copper wire. It was a bit loose,moveable, not secure enough on the cylinder. So I used a very tiny vinyl wire strap to secure it. Now it doesn't move and it looks like my r/s problem is solved.
