Hello,

I am thinking of buying a Viper 5601 unit to go with my 2006 F150.  What bypass transponder do you recommend to pair with the 5601?  Thanks in advance!

OK, I picked up the Viper 5601 for $139 shipped for a new unit (thats a good price, right?) and also got the XK04 bypass.  How does this unit hook up to d2d?  Do I have to use a cable, or will this plug into what they are calling the XpressPort?  Anything else I need to watch out for on this install??  Thanks!

will not go into the xpressport how ever you only need 2 or 3 TX RX and i think ing (not sure about your car) at the cylinder and the rest would be D2D make sure you have 2 keys

You will need a D2D cable. It's much more secure than using the W2W interface method.

Also, you said you purchased the XK04 and not the PKFM.

Yes I did get the XK04 and not the PKFM.  What is the difference?  Is one made for the XpressPort and one is not?  Does the D2D cable come with the bypass unit, the alarm, or neither?

The XK04 may require a relay. The PKFM has it integrated. It's a newly revised XK04.

Neither is designed for the XpressPort.

It comes bundled with specific bypass modules. The PKFM is packaged with the D2D cable. The XK04 is not.

xko4 doesnt require a relay but you need 2 keys to program...if you have a cloned key it wont count as the second key...youll pretty much be running in circles trying to program it...i learned the hard way...lol!....other than that xk04 is easy to program....

Ok great, thanks for the advice.  I have both original keys still, so I should be good to go.  Everything gets here on the 13th, so maybe I will get it done next weekend.  Thanks again.

dei actually has a note about putting a relay on the tx wire when using the xk04. i never used one on any of the xk04's when we had them and never had any problems, but we're on to the pkall now.
