All D2D will do is give you a power and ground for the module.  In DEI systems you still have to wire the GWR wire anyway.  So what is the difference for it????? Doesn't matter to me when it comes to a regular bypass.  It would only matter on the CAN-SL2 and DLPK.

You are mis-informed. Only newer modules, that fall under patent license, require GWR through W2W. D2D is a secure link, either way. If a module is programmed for D2D operation, it can not be operated without the encrypted link, regardless of GWR through W2W. Modules that require GWR, when operating in D2D mode, are under license. That is the reason for the GWR through W2W now. The older model modules don't require GWR through W2W when operating in D2D mode., because they don't fall under the patent license

Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

On the PKALL we have to connect the GWR when we use them.  If you are talking about the safety of the "encrypted link" then I understand what you mean but nonetheless in that mode its gonnas give you ground, power, and GWR.  We haven't had the chance to use the D2D config since we used DEI systems that didn't have the port but then again I hear problems from that technology on the newer DEI systems.
