Is it possible to wire it for 1 ohm and turn the gains all the way down? I will be running this all off the jensen vm9212 deck. I got these amps for a screaming deal and would like to get everything I can out of them.

There is no point to wire them to 1 ohm if you are already getting the power from the amp to power the subs past there rms rating. All you would be doing is make the amp work harder and for no reason but to blow your subs. Get subs that will handle the power output that the amp gives at 1 ohm then yes. till then leave it be.

agree 100%. Get better subs that can hold more power.

I know that opinions are like donut holes, everyone has one, but what subs would you recommend?

I would like to say thank you. I am learning so much from the website. I have a few more questions for everyone though. So at 4 ohm the  amp would put out 500 rms, to each sub?

yes your amp is 500 watts to each speaker@ 4 ohms for subs if your intent on staying with mtx id recommend going with the thunder9512 subs which are dual 4 ohm voice coils and rated for 1000 watts rms apiece shop around ive seen them for about 299 apiece in my online shopping ventures. if you want to try something else and be a little more cost effective you can buy Cadence Wild beast 12's for 99.00 apiece in there outlet store i have personally seen these subs in action and they hammer they are rated at 700 watts rms and 1000 watts peak.
