did you just call me a thief?

What?? You completely took what I said out of context. Read it again and maybe understand what I am trying to say. I am referring to someone who would attempt to steal a vehicle. It would be more difficult to hot-wire a vehicle with a factory immobilizer like Passlock, than having nothing at all. CHILL OUT.[/QUOTE]

it was a joke, i should have made that a little more clear

Okay installed a viper 791xv with remote start yesterday. Came with a new unprogrammed remote. Went to program the remote and nothing happens...so in order of events
door open
key to "on" position
press valet once for channel 1
press valet a second time, and hold down
led light flashes once and horn honks once
press button on remote to program and it gives 3 beeps (like it does when you're too far away from the vehicle and you try to unlock it)
then when i turn the truck all the way off it gives off one long honk
try to test it and nothing happens....
what is going on? someone please help me.....thanks in advance

Possible causes:

  • Defective remote
  • Defective antenna
  • Defective module

You could try to delete all the remotes. However, that may not program either. Are you holding the valet button, while you are using the remote? Where did you purchase the unit?

Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.
Story - Phzzzt! Hey, what happened?! ... Isn't it obvious?
Moral - Never dismiss the obvious.

i thought it could possibly be the module as well but if the module was bad the led wouldn't flash would it?

yes i am holding the valet button while using the remote and the light flashes depending on the channel i'm trying to program and the horn honks depending on what channel i'm trying to program as well which again makes me think it's not the module.......
