Has anyone successfully spliced an AI-NET Cable from Alpine?

I have been trying to get ahold of the KWA-350 extension cable somewhere online, but everyone is out of stock as the item is discontinued from Alpine.

What does the AI-Net cable look like inside? Will it be a nightmare to splice?

Thanks in advance.

I have never extended one, but I have repaired several that had been cut in half.  There is a 2 conductor shielded cable for audio, along with about 5 or 6 individual wires, all inside of an outer shield.   Radio shack sells (at least sold at one time) some 2 conductor shielded microphone cable that should work for the shielded audio cable.  To keep the outer shielding, you may want to extend all of the wires, fold the 2 ends of the shield back and wrap the entire length of the extension with some foil tape.  I use heavy duty aluminum foil but that is not for an extension.

i have a new 5 meter cable, but the old one had the end pulled off so my buddy  cut the connector off the cd player and tried to splice the long cable into the cd player, didnt work to well. so i did find a new cable and he put the connetcor back onthe cd player.
