I was wondering if there are any positives/negatives to where your port exits the box. I.E. front firing or rear firing. My thought was a rear firing port into the trunk so I won't have port noise in the cab.

I would typically put the port on the same plane as the sub(s). If that was not a possibility then putting it somewhere else shouldn't really matter. Just don't put it where the exit will be obsrtucted by the walls of the vehicle.
Why do you plan on having port noise? If you design the port properly you won't need to worry about having port noise.
