Re-working a 95 Caravan relay box to fit the wiring needs of a 83 D-150

the Caravan "power control module" houses 7 relays, fuses,, will use it to centralize electrical relays for electric fan, HEI, head light, blower motor relays.

I need to do some minor re-wiring of the main body of the power control module, I have figured out how to get the existing female terminal connectors out.

I have found (molex and mouser ) a source of simular open barrel connectors, but they are not identical. The original connectors used by Chrysler were a two piece design, gives a real nice fit to the blade terminal of the relay. There is a photo here http://www.flickr.com/photos/13718356@N02/?saved=1

Blade size is .030 / .86mm thick and  .250 / 6.4mm wide

The one through molex are a single piece connector design,

anyone have an idea where I could find a few  of these two piece designs for a 14  to 16 gauge and 10 to 12 gauge wire

thanks

that terminal is specifically a chrysler type terminal, thus the reason its harder to get from an electrical supplier and more readily available from a good auto parts store.

Basicly any of the terminals on any vehicle from anywhere in the world will be made by either Amp/Tycho/Amphenol (all the same company) or Molex.

i'm gonna disagree howie, like ween says, dont forget delphi...they are a major manufacturer of OE connectors for dozens of auto makers, and the one i'm surprized you forgot (being that you are in Europe and all) is Deutsch. I dont know how much Deutsch has their hands into OE connectors over their, but you would be amazed at how much of the OE stuff over here is made by Deutsch.

You're right two manufacturers would be impossible, it's just that when I open a Siemens control box be it a BMW, a UK made Toyota or a Focus or a Fiat  the connector plugs always seem to be AMP . Another thought about suppliers. The British equivalents to to Scosche etc all have selections of terminals relay bases etc etc. As do most of the specialist suppliers. It might be worthwhile looking at Scosche, etc.

I like what dadtruck is doing - looks like a great upgrade for an older vehicle. I would like to do something similiar, if you had to chose a oem relay box to modify, which one would offer the easiest to find terminals?? I have 9 relays in my truck now and they are wired very neatly, but a box would be even better. What say you experts.....

Chose the 95 Caravan Power Control Module as I was also using a elecrtic radiator fan from a 95 Caravan, as those are reported to fit well in a D-150

The Power Module ( including the 7 relays and fuses) was 12.00 and the fan was 15.00 at the local Pull a Part, as I was doing the pulling a part was careful to get as much of the wiring harness and connectors as possible.

Will use butt connectors to re make the electric fan wiring harness, also want to use relays for low and high beam lights, other than the fan relays the rest of the module wiring is quite light, hence the need for the terminals and crimpers...but the box is fairly compact, has a nice lid, comes with a handy mounting bracket, two power in buss bar terminals...
