is there a tach wire inside a 06 explorer 4dr with the v8?

at any ignition coil, or fuel injector not gray or purple. the injector is the better place to pick it up at.

i meant inside the car under the dash or something. I know to go to the coil or injectors.

if you want to spend that much time and effort, pull out the instrument cluster and test for the tach going into it there. but, it's much faster to just run it into the engine compartment (for me anyway, and thats soldering the connection and properly routing the wire and looming it as well).

I tested all the wires at an early (02-03) Mountaineer and never found tach.
The newer ones, however, have an anti-overcrank feature...just try it for yourself. Get in, turn the key to Start, and simply hold it there.....the starter will drop out as soon as the engine starts.
You could program your unit for voltage sensing, and set your cranking time for 1.5 or even 2.0 seconds, and the car should start every time.
Otherwise, you'd have to get tach under the hood.
