pats problem

I have a 99 mustang conv...3.8 lt engine.. trying to install a remote start and ran into some problems.. 1)theft light blinks rapidly when i turn the key to (run) (crank) positions. 2)car ran fine before i tried this instal,now the car only (cranks) but doesn't start.. since then i have removed the remote start and tried both keys and the car refuses to run,it only cranks... can anyone tell me how to bypass the pats or remove it for good so i can install the new alarm/remote start? Stage 3 body kit,side exhaust,Roush lowering springs,k&n filter,ported & polished throtel body.and gonna add a cobra supercharger.

Programming a new key (no other working keys are available):

This requires that the vehicle be connected to special dealer equipment. There are two ten minute delays involved while the dealer device erases all existing keys programmed and sets up the vehicle computer to accept new key codes. Two new keys should be ready because the system requires a minimum of two keys in order to program. After the first two keys are programmed, additional keys can be entered individually by following the instructions for adding spare keys below.Programmming a spare key:To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use an existing key to start the car.

1. Place an already programmed key in the key cylinder
2. Cycle the ignition from OFF to ON (RUN) to OFF.
3. Within 5 seconds, remove the existing key and insert the new key in the ignition. Turn the ignition from the OFF to ON (RUN) position.
4. Leave the key in the ON (RUN) position for 1 second and then turn back to OFF.
5. The "security" indicator light will go on for 3 seconds and then off to indicate successful programming.
6. Turn the ignition to OFF and remove the new key.
7. The new key will now start the vehicle.

All previously programmed keys will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use an existing key to start the car.

1. Put the newly cut Master key into the key cylinder and turn the ignition to the ON (RUN) position. A security indicator light on the dashboard will flash for 15 minutes.
2. Within 5 minutes after the indicator stops flashing, turn the ignition to OFF, then return the ignition to the ON (RUN) position. The indicator light again will flash for 15 minutes (Do not remove the key).
3. Again, within 5 minutes after the indicator light stops flashing, turn the ignition to OFF, then return the ignition to the ON (RUN) position. The indicator light again will flash for 15 minutes (Do not remove the key).
4. When the indicator light goes off for the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will now start the vehicle. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition and start the vehicle.

did you check to see if you broke the wires at the transceiver or the transceiver itself broke ive seen that happen beforeIf i Can't Install it    I Don't need it   Joe

Thanks for the fast replies! To stjeric-ive tried that and it still doesn't run..theft light is still blinking rapidly when i try to start the car.. umm,no i don't think its the transceiver antena,that was the only part on the car that i didn't touch. no cracks or broken wires are visible.. is there a way i can still bypass or remove the pats with out spending $130 to reprogram the keys? also,just wondering does the pats system dissable the ignition system? ive checked for spark and im not getting any.Stage 3 body kit,side exhaust,Roush lowering springs,k&n filter,ported & polished throtel body.and gonna add a cobra supercharger.

i would check for a blown ign fuse...    meter the wires at the switch and verify that every wire that should be powering up is.....Kevin Gerry

I do believe that a burned ignition fuse is involved......use a jumper from the power wire and jump the igniton wire and see if it starts....Sylvain Rochon

I've just checked the ignition harness switch and all wires are powering up at the times they are supposed to,also i hve checked every single fuse and relays on this car... am i missing something? could it be just the Pats system that is stoppping the car from running?Stage 3 body kit,side exhaust,Roush lowering springs,k&n filter,ported & polished throtel body.and gonna add a cobra supercharger.

At the Pats harness, there's a ignition wire, a ground, TX, RX.......ignition wire is a pin 2 on the connection, test it, you may have that mission ignition.Sylvain Rochon

To syl20rochon- where is the Pats(anti theft system) harness? and what am i testing for? I'm sorry i really didn't understand at what you said. can you P.M me with the info?
