I just picked up a 98 toyota tacoma, it came with a plow and a superwinch to raise and lower the plow. My question is that it came with this hideous box, there are no fuses, the guy wired it directly to the battery.

Now, I would like to find a nice but small 2-way momentary switch (I guess its called a dpdt). My problem is that I dont want to run those huge cables into the cab, so I would need help with wiring a heavy duty (70A) relay. The winch just has a power and ground, so there is only 2 wires. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Standard DAV/Electric Life/Sempal aftermarket window switch, but you will need to relays, no a single ploe double throw momentary centr off from Radio Shackf with two relays. Do you need 70amps? Any way. Feed from ground, then follow the relay diagrammes on this site that show adding actuators for central locking, it's the same priciple, your switch would be equivalent to the lock/unock wires from the alarm.

You need (2) 70 amp SPDT relays. A solenoid is simply an on/off device. You need 2 double throw devices to do what you need. If you find such an animal, we can draw you a diagram.

I thought it was possible to use just 1 switch to raise and lower the plow, one that reverses polarity to trigger the relay's.

I can wire it I just would need information on which poles to connect to what.

You can do it with one switch. If you do not want to run the large wires into the vehicle, you will need 2 relays. Without the relays, you would need a switch large enough to handle the 70 amps of current. If you do not want to have the large wires running into the vehicle, you REALLY don't want a switch that big in the vehicle. If you can find some suitable relays, I can modify this diagram and show you how to wire the switch to activate the setup.

Ok, I just got a switch, now what kind of relays would you think I should get (how many pole)?
