I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 That won't start with the ignition key, but will start with the remote starter. After I start it with the remote, I put the key in the ignition, press the brakes and get 4 flashes (+12V where detected on the brake line and cranking was canceled), but the ignition stays on. I can drive with no problems.
If I press the start button on the remote while the truck is running I get 4 flashes and it won't keep the truck running after the key is turned off.
I've had the remote starter on the truck for almost 2 years without a problem.
Figuring the problem was with the remote starter or bypass module I disconnected the power to both but still couldn't start the truck with the key.
I then unplugged the remote starter and bypass module, but still couldn't start it with the key.
I have a ProStart 3400 remote starter with a XK532 bypass module
If anyone has any ideas why this is happening, your help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Clinton

What happens when you go to start it with the key?

Does it crank?

Did you isolate an ignition wire at all during install?
Try reprogramming the key if you have a 3rd key. Otherwise you can stick the chip next to IGN cylinder while turning an unchipped key to act as a 2nd key.

I isolated the start and acc. relays. I've had the remote in for almost 2 years without any problems until now

Re-wire the mux. Thats all I can think of. I remember the old way of doing it used two relays and seperated the wire from the switch. Maybe that is interupting the wire or affecting the 180 ohm ground during start when you use the key.

I also agree that if the key in the box is not programmed to the vehicle anymore it can interfere but I think a dodge would at least crank. Fords dont when they see two keys or a bad key. I believe a dodge would start and then shut off.

First off is determine if it's a Sentry problem or ignition problem. When the remote start kicks over, does the red LED in the dash start flashing fast ? The stop and go feature you described doesn't work, so that tells me that the MUX values are not right and that maybe the ignition output is not functioning properly either. Have you tested the ACC, IGN & START outputs from the ProStart to make sure that your getting output to these wires when remote started ?

I had this exact thing happen to a truck last year. Same setup bypasskit.com module but different starter. Bypasskit tells you to isolate the ppl/brn mux wire with a relay. That is a very small wire! In my situation, that wire was broke. It allowed the truck to be r/s but not started with the key. Check that connection.
