I have installed the remote start and i am having some issues. I set the unit to automatic transmission but i am not sure what to set the engine checking mode to? The 1401 has four options including virtual tach, tach, volts, off. The real problem i am having is when i hit the remote start button the truck acts like it is going to start but no power ever comes out of the purple wire on the remote start unit. this should be the starter output which is wired to the yellow wire on the ignition switch. Could i be missing a wire somewhere? The diagnostic flashes three times indicating no rpm or low rpm. I am not really looking for this thing to do anything more than remote start and the doors. On the heavy duty harness do the three wires i have not connected go anywhere? 2001 chevy suburban, 1401 python. Here is what i have wired so far.

Remote start   Vehicle

Red 12v input    12v constant
Horn     Black wire at bcm
Ground    Chassis ground
Parking lights    BCM

Pink Ignition 1input/output  pink at ignition switch

Orange Accessory output  Orange at ignition switch
Purple Starter output   yellow at ignition switch
Red Fused Ignition 1 input  Red at ignition switch
Pink/white Ignition 2   White at ignition switch

Neutral safety    Ground switch

Tach input    ECM pin 10 red plug
Brake switch    white brake switch
Hood pin switch   hood switch
2nd status/rear defrogg  bypass module ground input

You haven't connected the RED / white and RED / black 12V heavy gauge inputs, presumably? There's your problem.

Connect it directly - DEI products generally have a strong enough disarm output that they don't need a relay.
