two 12s

Wow...! Well, I had originally planned on going with one 12" RE Audio SL12 in a ported enclosure in my 2008 GMC Canyon. It seems that I could also comfortably place two 12's in a sealed enclosure. My question is, which will sound better, louder? If I go the two 12's route, do I build the enclosure with a separator between the two chambers? Or can I build the enclosure so both subs share a common chamber? Is one method better than another, does it make a difference? Thanks again! -josh

I have those same 12's in my reg cab dodge ,mine are in a 2.0cuft sealed enclosure that is 1.0cuft per chamber and I really love the sound of them.In my opinion sealed enclosures give you better sq and ported enclosure are louder.If you are going to do 2 subs you should put them in seperate chambers if there going in a sealed enclosure,really it comes down to sealed=sq /ported =loud wich do you want?-A vision without a plan is just a hallucination-

Another thing to consider is power going to them. If using the same power. Just adding a sub is not going to yield anything much more to hear loudness wise. Now if you double power you can see to gain a hear able difference. This would even more be so in a ported vs. Sealed application. If you went ported on the one and with the same power added a second and then went to sealed because of space. You definitely would not be able to hear the any difference in loudness.

Yeah... I would definitely be doubling the power in the two 12" sealed enclosure. spmpdr, how do those subs hit? What amp/power do you have going to them? I really haven't found anybody else who actually HAS them. -josh

I run mine on a memphis 1000wattx1@2ohm,I have them wired to 4ohms though so they only get about 500watts total or 250 to each sub wich in my opinion is more than enough ,I had them wire at 1ohm and did not like the sound all boom no music,I definitely like them better wired at 4ohm they sound much cleaner and crisper,by the way mine are 4ohm dvc if yours are the same I would recommend a 4ohm wiring configuration for sq and a 1 ohm configuration for boom!!-A vision without a plan is just a hallucination-
