Ahh, smart key.  The CM4200 relies on seeing the IGN1 wire going to +12 volts when you turn the cars ignition switch to Run to get into programming mode.  The corolla with smart key doesn't have an ignition switch to turn.  Sorry, I'm a little dense sometimes.  09 corolla with smart key , cm4200 start - Page 2 -- posted image.

Here is the way I would get around that.  Make a jumper wire that is 18 - 24 inches long with alligator clips on either end.  I also have a fuse holder with a 5 amp fuse in the middle of that wire.  Obtain access to the CM4200 module with it still connected to the car.  You are going to carefully strip some insulation off 2 wires on connector CN1.  These are heavy gauge wires.  The Red wire at pin 1 will be supplying the +12 volts.  The Green wire at pin 7 is the IGN1 wire.  Attach one end of the jumper to the red wire ( making sure the other end is not touching anything! ) and then touch it to the the green wire 5 times, leaving it clipped on the 5th time.  That should be the same as Step 1 and get you into programming mode.  Continue programming the remotes.  After you are done, disconnect your jumper carefully and use quality electrical tape the wrap the two wires up securely.

Thank you very much Kreg. I will give that a try today. It does not seem too difficult and hopefully things go well.

I will post the results.

Just finished doing as you instructed, and wola! I got my remote programmed. However....I have one problem. I can lock / unlock doors with the remote, but when I attemt to start the vehicle, I can see that it attemtps to start the car 3 times, before giving up. I can see the Green LED lit 3 times on the Push Start Button, I hear the chrim three different times, but car does not start.

The bypass unit that I have on this car is iDataLink ADS 128. Can you please help? I don't have a clue what to look for.

Thank you again!

Using the IDatalink AL CA module on the Toyota Corolla with Smart Key there are some restrictions.  This is an exerpt from the install guide.

IMPORTANT:

1-NO TAKEOVER AVAILABLE. UPON OPENING VEHICLE DOOR ENGINE WILL SHUTDOWN.
2-ALL DOORS MUST BE CLOSED TO REMOTE START VEHICLE.

So to remote start your car:  Make sure all the doors are closed.  Also when you are ready to enter the car, it will shutdown as you open a door and have to be restarted.

Did you have all the doors closed when you tried to remote start it?   If yes, did it try to crank?   There is a light on the IDatalink module that will blink and give you an idea of where the problem lies.  Flashing green during R/S is good.  Here is a link to the IDatalink web site.  Look up you car and select the guide for the ADS AL CA.

Good advise, look at the light. Anything other than green flash during RS is wrong. At Idata's website, got o doc1693. Reset the unit as described on the last page, then reprogram...

I tried all possible options.

1. I kept the smartkey in the car and attempted to start the car with all 4 doors closed...no luck

2. I removed the smartkey, stood about 20ft away from the car, with all doors closed, and tried starting...no luck

3. iDataLink module flashes green when I attempted start

Sorry, forgot the IDatalink web site link:   http://www.idatalink.com/helpdesk/

It is possible that the no start problem is that the Tach must be re-learned on the CM4200.  The CM4200 will blink the parking lights to indicate a problem after a failed start attempt.  The codes are at the back of the CM4200 install guide.

Another possible problem is that you are in valet mode.

Keep us posted...

First, thank you guys for helping me on this. Much appriciated.

Hi Kreg...these are my symptoms

I can lock / unlock doors, when I push stat button from the remote, the parking lights flash and I see the remote starter attempts to start the car, I can hear the clicks few times inside the car, but it does not blink parking lights to indicate the error code

I have performed factory reset on the iDataLink module as per install guide, but it's funny...after resetting and reconnecting all connectors, the green LED goes back to flashing green, without me having to do anything. I tried resetting the module several times, but same result.

When I try to reprogram, I don't seem to get the result that I'm suppose to. The LED is supose to turn solid RED but never truns red and keeps flashing green.

After a reset to the IDatalink module you must set it to Data Mode or Standard mode with the instructions at the top of page 8.  To deciede if you need Data or Standard look at the black 4 pin connector on the ADS AL CA module.  An intact harness going to the the CM4200 CN7 means Data.  Three wires from the IDatalink black connector going to +12 volts, ground and CM4200 CN2 pin 4, black wire means Standard mode.

After you set the mode then you can re-program the module to the car with the instructions on page 9.
