I have a good customer that has a problem that the dealer can't figure out and was wondering if any of the readers here have heard about or actually had to deal with it. Dodge Ram Truck when you just touch the gas pedal at 15 mphs the dome light and key chime and door ajar light comes on than goes off...on .. offf...on.. off.... on.......offf... take your foot off the gas pedal ....nothing... driving my customer absolutly freakin' crazy. The dealership said it was of course the aftermarket alarm (Python 8100, w/remote start etc all checked and tight & clean) So we disable the unit and of course the same problem, so they changed out the 2 rear door latches?? Works for 3 days and back to craziness with that freakin chime, dome light flash and door ajar light blinks on..... Anyone?? I would gladly cut the chime but believe it would trigger a "check engine" event and light up. Before we dig into this i want to put it out for the real experts because there is nothing a good 12 volt car audio installer can't figure out by using their brain instead of relying only on a OBC and diagnostic software.

No idea, never seen this before.

But, it has to be either the truck's BCM, or the doorlatch switches, or the wiring in between the latches and the BCM, right?

Not to just go and blame the alarm, but where did you get door trigger? Did you use the domelight, or separate doorpins?

If you used separate doorpins, temporarily disconnect them.

If your customer is patient, maybe disconnect all four doorlatches inside the doors, let the customer drive around for a while and see if the problem persists.

Might also be a good idea to pop open the rubber boots going into the doorjambs, and inspect the door trigger wires for breaks or shorts there.

We have run across that problem occasionally, but mostly with Fords. The problem is the door adjustment . If the striker is not pulling the door shut all the way as you drive down the road the door will actually shake and cause that problem. Try adjusting the striker bolt (typically a BIG torx bit) a little tighter (close). I've serviced many of these in bodyshops where they install a new door and this problem will occer.
