Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Ha!  Yes, that's the plan.  I'm hoping for mad dee beez.  just for fun -- posted image.

Actually two are being used for a new IB system in my home theater.  I just thought there was no better place than a car audio forum to post a picture of one of these monsters and maybe one of our resident bass heads will figure out how to squeeze a couple into a Civic.

With that much surface area and that much swept volume, you should get really deep and really loud with incredible sound quality. How much power are you going to be running to them?
You run IB main speakers in your home as well, correct?

OB actually, 4-way system with dipole Shiva's in stereo.  The Maelstroms will go in the ceiling, with a plan to cross them below about 45Hz, powered with 1KW each.

Actually, it JUST happens that the two LATs that I am assembling for my car actually has the same Sd, at 1640cm! :) Sure, you're spanking the swept area by a little better than 3:1... EACH, but who's counting? LOL
Dammit, Dave... Why you ALWAYS gotta steal my thunder...? just for fun -- posted image. (My car *IS* about one one-hundredth the volume of your living room, though! Small consolation there...)
It's comforting to know that others share my disease! Those are Fan-Freakin'-Tastic!
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
