Hello all. 2005 Dodge 2500
Hooked up 12v 30a relay for separate rev back up lights. Triggered off rev light. How can a switch of some sort be used to turn on lights when hooking up boat etc. without reverse lights on?
Diagram would be helpful.

Install a switch AFTER the REV connection and diode isolate it from the reverse signal.

The relay should have a Pin 85 and Pin 86.  One of those should be connected to ground and the other should be connected to the "reverse" signal.  Whichever one is connected to the reverse signal cut that wire and install a 1n4001 diode from Radioshack with the band facing the relay.  Between the diode and the relay connect a switch that connects to 12vdc.

Sorry, don't have time to draw up a picture!
