After giving this some thought........  I now know why my system did what it did.

At some point after taking the rear speakers out and only having the fronts.......  I FADED the unit to the front only.  Even though it was still driving all four channels on the PDX 4100.  I eventually took out all the speakers to start the path to 3 way mode, or fronts only.

I was drving around with no speakers at all....  They I stopped by the stereo shop and had them switch it to 3 way mode.  The Alpine CDA-9887 considers Front to be MID and REAR to be HIGH..........

So when the unit gets switched, FADING is disabled in the menu.  There was no signal from that set of RCA's.  Even when I switched it back to 4 Way mode, I didnt remember to check the FADE.

By pressing the RESET HOLE/BUTTON found behind the faceplace bottom left corner, the unit was returned to factory of 50/50 split on both FADE and LEFT RIGHT......

I now have a signal and the tweets are a chirpin once again.
