First post,
First off, I do not know the model # of the alarm(no identifiers), but it is similar(in appearance) to an Audiovox APS-25-CL.
Has small cover revealing (4)DIP switches, Edge connector(13 pin) on bottom, (3) connections on left side(Door locks, LED and Valet).
I have the unit set up with only the door switches But has (2) other channels.
On with the problem:
When I arm or disarm the system I get no chirps from siren, but if sitting inside I can hear the brain box beep once for lock and twice for unlock. I do get (3)chirps if I try to arm it with the door open and (4) chirps if I disarm after intrusion, so I know the siren is accepting chirps.
I tried the Audiovox method of activating chirps(Key on, key off, toggle valet on-off-on-off-on-off) and receive no chirps. I tried it fast(<3sec.) and slow(<10sec.)
When I go into programming there appears to be only 3 levels of programming. After the third program it sounds the alarm for about 1-1.5 seconds. I also do not hear the chirp during programming.
Anyone have an idea as to the problem, of possibly a solution?

Do you have any idea what the dip switches are for?

Not sure, but on an APS25CL they are as follows;
AUTO LOCK / UNLOCK : DIP SWITCH #1
PASSIVE / ACTIVE DOOR LOCK SELECTION: DIP SWITCH #2
PASSIVE / ACTIVE ARMING SELECTION: DIP SWITCH #3
VOLTAGE SENSE / HARDWIRE SELECTION: DIP SWITCH #4
Just a note: I have not touched the dip switches.

Avox just sent me the install and owners manuals.
I will post them in the members downloads area for all to share.
Regrettable this did not help in my getting the chirps to work during arm/disarm.

I wonder if there might be a compatibility problem with the siren.
I replace the one that was there(smashed and rusted) with a DEI 514N.
has anyone had issues with this?

Disconnect the siren from the alarm, touch the siren's power wire to the battery briefly.  Does it chirp?  If not, touch it to the battery long enough to have the siren begin producing sound.  How long does that take?

Pretty much instantaneous.
I am going to hook up a small piezoelectric buzzer I have tomorrow and see if it is getting the signal (I'd use my meter, but it suffered a fall last week). If that fails I guess I will just have to live without the arming chirps, as the alarm itself and door locks work.
Guess I need not sweat the small stuff.
