Could it be that once I turn the ignition off I have to open a door before I can arm it ?

You have to set it up with the engine still running. Look in your owner's manual.

thanks for that but that hasn't helped. i will go look in the owners manual, guessing what you are saying is i have to activate a setting to enable me to arm the car with the engine running right ?
for reference when i turn the car off i have to open a door for me to be able to lock the car the dash stays illuminated until i do this, this also prevents me from arming the car.

Look at how I originally posted on how to wire it, when you replied a couple of days ago you definitely didn't follow the same method and yes I agree with T&t.

sorry howie, you are correct i did not follow it exactly as you said my mistake instead of cutting the black wire from the alarm output i found where the installer had connected it to the factory loom so just un-soldered it from there and then connected the relay up as you have described between the factory wiring and the alarm (exactly the same as cutting and joining on the black wire from the alarm)

is200_turbo did the correct thing by not creating a new thread.  Snide remarks to the contrary are unnecessary.  Bickering is needed even less. Drop it and move on.
