Just bought an open box pioneer unit, DEHP-2500, and of course it came without any manual or diagrams.  Now, I have figured out the power, battery and speaker wiring (I think...) but on the units connector harness there is a wire labeled "Ill"  I assume this means illumination.  But where does it connect to, if at all, on my 1987 Honda CRX Si?  And if anyone knows where I can get the wiring diagram, colors and all, for this harness to the radio on the car that would be great, since the previous owner cut the standard connector off and hard wired the replacement in.

By the way, just in case I'm wrong, feel free to tell me how this thing wires together.  This is a first time for me and even though I believe I have it figured out it would be comforting to have it confirmed by the Pros...Thanks in advance

so you have no harness.....yes that orange wire is for illumination, if your crx has illumination wires, which it might? you would hook to that and when enabled on the deck it can dim the deck with the headlights....as for the wire colors, you might want to take it to best buy or something and have them wire in a reverse harness that way you wouldnt have any problems in the future.....should be like 30 for the harnesses and whatever they charge to install it!

OK, so that wire is used to dim the deck lights when I turn the headlights on, because they assume at night the deck lighting doesn't need that much illumination...cool, that makes sense, my clock and such dim when the head lights turn on.  Excellent thanks for the help.

this is for an 87 integra but the colors should be the same....you need to verify them using a multimeter but this should give you a start in the right direction...

The ILL wire is not supposed to be hooked up to the DIMMER wire on the car. The DIMMER wire will fluctuate from 12 volts down to GROUND ( or a little above ground ). If you attach the ILL of the deck to the DIMMER wire of the CRX, you will blow the ILL lead and the display will not come on after that. Most decks have an ORANGE / WHITE wire designated for the DIMMER.

Hey, here's a thought just don't hook that wire up! The unit will still function properly.
