I just got a dball all unit on the amazon.
I have a 2011sonata with smart key (D2D mode)
I went to a viper shop to flash new firmware on it, but they said
I don't have to update it because it's dball-all
Do I have to flash the hyundai firmware on it or not?

Yes you do need to flash it.  The DB-ALL comes preloaded with one version of Chrysler fimrware on it but that's it.  I found this out when I went to use a DB-ALL in a Chevy Cobalt.  It wouldn't work so I called DEI tech support and was told it needed to be flashed.
