I purchased a key and ignition system and it says it fits the following vehicles.

JETTA  05-09 8th VIN digit "K"

   JETTA  10    VIN J, K (8th digit)
   JETTA  11    S, SE & SEL

I am installing this unit into a 1965 VW Bug, I will be doing my own wiring to make it work.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for just the ignition switch itself?

From the picture on ebay, I can see what appears to be a 12 pin plug. I see only a red, green, blue and yellow..  but I'll wanted to know what each wire was for so I know which wires to use.

thank you in advnace!

This is what I purchased

2 x red constants.
Black ignition 1
Black red ignition 2
RED / Black starter (that's Europe, US colour may vary).
Yellow/red or BROWN / red (see above) ACC.
Use a meter to tell which is which.

Thank you very much Howie II.
Looking at the picture of the actual switch I ordered, and I may have to wait until it's physically in my hands.. I see a green wire and it's not mentioned above.
Here is the picture of it on Ebay.
Thanks so much!

You're quite correct, I was thinking of the earlier European colours.
Purple = 12V+ constant.
Yellow = Ignition.
Red = Starter.
Green = ACC
Any other wires are irrelevant to your needs.

This has me thinking as well.
These wires are no where near the thickness they should be for an ignition system. So something tells me this feeds the computer. Which means this will not work for what I want to do will it..
Maybe if I run a relay of some sort? beef of the wires from the rely to the starter?

and.. there isn't some sort of ground for this? I'd like to know what all wires are for if you don't mind. Little reassurance on my end! :)

OK. I used your purple as the positive constant and hook it up to a battery.
Here were my results with a test light attached to the ground.
Key in the ignition and out
- RED OFF
- BLUE OFF
- GREEN OFF
- GRAY ON (was hoping it would turn off when I removed the key. But no.
- YELLOW OFF
Key to ACC
- RED OFF
- BLUE ON
- GREEN ON
- GRAY OFF
- YELLOW ON
In the START Position
- RED ON
- BLUE OFF
- GREEN OFF
- GRAY OFF
- YELLOW ON
Now couldn't I use any one of the ACC ON ones to make the radio come on with the car..
Use the red to a relay and use it to the starter?
Thanks..

Actually you will need relays for everything excluding the radio.
The grey simply feeds the side as we call them or parking lights.
Are you at last beginning to see why I suggested a remote start rather than the ignition key route?

Yes! :) But I guess this is a good learning thing of me. I really appreciate all your help and input. I have enough information that I can replace the factory key ignition with this Jetta one.
