I have a 96 Grand Cherokee limited. I want my rear hatch glass to have power or ground only when the jeep is unlocked.
Is there a ground or positive output when locked on the stock keyless entry unit? is there a way i can use relays and the door locks or tap into the led to turn a ground or positive signal off when lock and back on when unlocked?
thanks

Most aftermarket alarms or remote starters have a "Ground when armed" output. Use that wire to trigger a relay to cut power to your hatch release wire.

search for single or dual coil latching relay, 12 VDC of course. the relay will latch and unlatch with a 12 volt pulse. some manufacturers have the relay latch and unlatch by reversing the polarity of the pulse.
you can wire the relay coils directly to the drivers door lock motor. when the doors are locked you have a armed output, when they are unlocked, a disarm output.
then use the relay contacts to interrupt the output of the switch or whatever controls the glass release solenoid. you may need to modify the wiring, adding an additional relay, to handle the current that the solenoid may draw.
or
a PAC tr-7 , select feature 3...still need a relay to do interrupting.

Omron do a few of the type Ween mentioned, I've used one activated by neg. lock and unlock pulses, also they effectively draw no juice so save to use.
Google Omron, or in the US Mouser, Farnell, here Radiospares, "12volt latching relays, twin coils".
