Hi,
I just installed a Viper 4103 with an Xpress kit PKTX PATS bypass in a 2012 Mustang with PATS only and no factory alarm system. The car will start from the remote start with the key in the ignition barrel and in the off position.
I have followed the steps to program the PKTX. The PKTX does exactly what it is supposed to do. At the end of programming the PKTX status light flashes fast 10 times and the red LED goes out. However the car will not start remotely without the key in the ignition.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I wonder if the PKTX needs a firmware update. the instructions are very vague. In one sentence it says that the PKTX does not need any firmware updates. But then if you look on the xpress web site they point to instructions on how to update and check the firmware using the xkloader, etc.
Thank you,

Make sure all other keys are completely clear of the barrel. If it senses 2 keys it won't start.

How is the module connected to the Viper 4103? with the data cable, or hardwired to power, ground, and ground-when running from the remote starter?
Also, does the module light up when turning on the remote starter?

Hey Chris,
The pktx is connected to the Viper via the D2D cable. (black to red ends). The other connector is connected to the PATS module at the key barrel. (tx, rc, & IMMO power).
Thanks,
Mitch

Hey Chris,
You were right on the money! I failed to connect the blue wire(status output) from the PKTX to the Viper. I was confused by the directions. The directions that came with the PKTX noted dotted lines on the connection as in (no connection). The guide I printed out from the WWW was still vague. But did denote a status connection.
I did want to say thanks to the guys at the Cary, NC Best Buy. They found the issue in less than 30 seconds. He did explain that even though the D2D should be the only connection between the Xpress Kit and RS, they have been connecting the status outputs on most all installs because of D2D problems.

Hi, where do I connect the while running status (blue wire from pktx)? Do I tie into the remote start ribbon #7 blue -200 mA status output or do i cut it and just connect directly?(Avital 5103 and the ribbon is connector to connector which goes from the brain to heavy gauge relay).Or am I totally off on location?
Thanks for any help.

Issue....truck was fine before trying to program pktx without blue wire tied into anything....have not tried connecting it yet but the only way the truck starts now is if I put the key in the ignition and use the autostarter then turn key forward to deactivate system??? If I try to start truck with key it will not start.
