first off im installing a couple gps tracking devices in a couple fleet vehicles and on the tracking units one of the wires says to wire a certian wire to a ignition sense (biased low) would this be to ignition 1 wire in sterring column or to the key sense wire?

this is exactly as the instruction sheet reads:

locate the vehicles ignition wire and connect the units ignition sense wire to the vehicles ignition wire

the vehicles ignition wire can be verified by measuring  for the vehicles operating voltage while the key is turned to the 'ON' or 'START' position. the vehicles ignition wire should read 0 VDC when the key is left in the 'OFF' position, and typically between 11 V and 14 V when in the 'ON' position.

from what i gather i should hook it to the 'IGN' 1 wire at steering column but im kinda haveing a brain fart. ive intalled many remote start and alarm units but i may just be thinking to much into this GPS Tracking unit.

any help is appericated

also would a 2009 ford f350 be the same basic wiring at steering column as a 2009 ford e350 because i cant find a wiring diagram for the e350

Use ignition 1 wire. Not sure about the wire diagram, I'll post one later tonight

X 2 and test for ignition on an unknown.

In fact in the real world I also use ACC, in fact on one station wagon,
I connected the ignition to the hatch light + because it was on a sleep circuit and the 12V+ constant and grounds to the rear power outlet which wasn't on a sleeper circuit.
Worked perfectly.
Don't over think, dead simple, just make sure that both antennae see daylight or at least through plastic and glass not metal.
General current draw is about 3 milliamps and on the ignition circuit the draw is unmeasurable.
