Points noted.  I appear to be stuck anyway.  Can't even get the pkall to indicate any sort of led action.  At this point I have cut the d2d and am just trying to get 12 volt and a ground out of it.  Still nothing on the pkall even though multimeter says it's perfect.  Sucks...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you would recommend sending the whole setup back and getting an alarm with remote?  I didn't realize the remote start would render the factory system off.  If it were your guys money, please recommend the setup I should get and from whom as well.  I don't have any loyalty to dei etc.. just wanted something I could setup in a few hours.  Setup a manual remote start on a jetta 8 years ago or so, so I must be going backwards in terms of skills..  If I didn't get the remote with keyess entry would I have to use the acura key in the door to lock and unlock?

At this point i would like a remote start for the wife.  If she can use factory keys fine, if she needs to use an aftermarket fob fine.  I feel like I really don't need the alarm system some of these come with, but that's also just an uniformed opinion.

Guys I really appreciate your time.  A recomendation from you as exactally what to purchase would be much apprecaited.  I'm going to go rip it all out.. Thank God for temp connections.

i would recommend a compustar pro 1wg4ss with an idatalink module flashed for your vehicle. this is a starter and keyless entry unit only.
the setup will take you at most 3h for novice installer.
if you want to be with directed dei, viper 5101 is a pretty good unit. any unit is fine with keyless entry and just use the fortin or idata bypass.

You can keep the remote starter you already have...it's a 1-button Viper right? Or, you can get a system with separate buttons for lock, unlock, start, trunk, and maybe panic.
1-button advantages:
---small remote
---simple to understand. Push twice to start; push once (after remote started) to unlock
1-button disadvantages:
---cannot open rear hatch or activate panic when remote starter is on
---some people can become a little confused as to how to use the same button to both start, and unlock the car.
Multi-button advantages
---Each button clearly labeled as to what it does; no confusion as to how to unlock
---Longer range lets you lock car doors from inside house, in case you can't remember if you locked it while parking
---Able to control all functions of car even when remote starter is running, including hatch up/down (NOTE: No matter which databus module you buy, they all only do hatch with the car off. If you need hatch up/down when the remote starter is on, must run wire into door)
Multi-button disadvantages:
---Bulky remote to carry
---Sometimes (depending on brand) higher product cost
Another option:
---You could also use a multi-button remote, but use the gray valet key to drive the car. At least that way there's only one remote to carry around instead of two.
