2009 toyota corrolla, autopage rs-601

Hey all,  I am about to install a autopage RS-601 remote starter in a 2009 corrolla and am wondering about the 2nd start wire.  Does it need to be hooked up?  It is very small in gauge.  If so do you guys just tap it in with the start 1 wire?  also, any tips/heads up on this car would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks again in advance.pipes

Yes it needs to be connected and no DO NOT just connect it to the 1st starter wire. They are separated for a reason. Use a standard automotive 30a/40a relay (4 pin or 5 pin, doesn't matter) connected as follows: Pin 85 ------------------ (-)200ma 2nd starter output from r/s Pin 86 & 87 ------------- 12v constant fused (20a) Pin 30 ------------------ Vehicle 2nd starter wire Pin 87a (if applicable) - no connectionKenny

I don't think the RS601 (autopage) has that extra wire option.  I cant just take the  starter 1 wire as a "trigger" wire for my starter 2 wire relay?pipes

Yes you can, wire thus, spur off your status or GWR wire, in line diode, 1N4004, band towards R/S and:- GWR to 85 12V constant, 20amp fuse to 87 Wire from starter 1 to 86 second starter wire to 30.

That's what I thought.  Thanks again for your input.  Have you personally done one of these cars before?  If so, any problems/issues I should look for before I get my hands dirty?  I am using a idata AD-AL-CA module.pipes

The AD-AL-CA should make the install a breeze. If It was me I would use idatalink's TB module or a key in the box next time. This vehicle is super easy.I drink current, eat ohms, and bleed voltage

use the ads-al-ca. i did this car hardwired when that piece wasnt available on the girlfriends car, it was brutal i tell you.Ted

The Corolla doesn't have any second starter wire....what's all this about? At the ignition switch, it is true that there are two small black wires that test as starter, but they're both going to the same connector at the ignition switch. Just connect to either of the wires.....they both go to the same place. TIP: The WORST part of the 2009-up Corolla is its brittle wiring. Get yourself a regular butane cheapo cigarette lighter, and heat each wire up a little before you strip it. Otherwise, they'll break. I also vote for the ALCA. Not only do you not have to give up a key, and it saves you a few wire connections, but it also keeps the factory keyless operational during remote start.

I'm doing the car right now, and all my paper documents say it has a (white) wire for starter wire 2.  It has a little white wire that is in the same harness as the starter wire (thicker gauge) and  the little white wire tests as a starter wire.  12votlts in the "crank position"pipes

It depends on the model. The XRS model US/CAN made had the 2nd starter wire. If I remember correctly the 2nd starter was a smaller gauge. If it tested then its probably it. Where are you getting it from? Is it just in the same harness or is it coming from the same connector as well? From DEI: Second Starter      white (USA/CAN made) (XRS model only)      +      ignition switch, white 8 pin plug, pin 1 Notes: On vehicles with Smart Key, it is yellow or black (USA/CAN made) or white (Japan made) at the Body ECU, white 19 pin plug, pin 14 or 4. The Body ECU is attached to the back of the dash fuse box. Kenny
