the starter has 2 relays- the 1 is for the anti-grind and the other relay is connected to the 2nd starter.

That is what it comes with, but you will also most likely need another for the 2nd accessory. I'm not sure if that would cause your non-start issue, but the heater may not function properly once it is started.

Does it also work if the key is just physically in the ignition (not turned). If not then you are missing either an ignition or an accessory. If it does start with the key just in the ignition (not turned) then it is most likely a bypass issue. My money is that you need to connect the 2nd accessory wire. Pick up a 30a/40a standard automotive relay and connect as follows:
Pin 85 - (-)200ma 2nd accessory output
Pin 86 & 87 - 12v constant fused 20amps
Pin 30 - 2nd accessory wire in vehicle.

It isn't always just for the heater controls. There are some vehicles that require the 2nd accessory wire connected to be able to start. I wouldn't pass up on it just yet. Read my previous post.

it does not start if the key is just in the ignition. when in "on" position it does. i will try to wire the 2nd acc and see what it does. thanks

No need for second acc. On a new Nissan. Did you connect all the heavy gauge wires at the switch or in the kick panel? I'm gonna say you hooked up ign as acc and acc as ignition. It sounds like you have everything else right. Unless the bypass didn't program right.

i did connect and verified (i always use dmm) all connections in the drivers kick panel. tap the 2nd starter wire from the key wires. i will have the bypass checked again, but should i get just a crank if its a bypass issue?

It might it might not crank if it's bypass issue. Late model fords won't crank. I'm unsure about Nissan.
If your sure the ignition is right. Then it only leave bypass and the relay at the fuse box.
