Hello All,

I picked up an ULTRA START 450 SERIES alarm/keyless entry system and I'm having some trouble matching the the wire diagram from the alarm to my 96 Maxima.  I posted both the diagram from the alarm and the car below and would like someone to match it up for me if possible.  If any additional information is needed, please let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

What wires are you having an issue with. You won't need to hook up all the wires Fromm the alarm.

WHITE/ blue not used unless for ACC such as headlamps (2 relays required).
Orange, not used unless starter cut required.**
BLACK/ white connect to U/start green door trigger.
Don't use if there is a fade away for a few seconds when you shut the doors before locking the car.
Blue to hood pin, yellow/black at BCM beneath radio.***
Green to RED / white, driver kick panel.
Purple, don't use.
Yellow to BLACK/ white or BLACK/ red ign. loom.
Lock plug;
Green to light GREEN/ red locks witch, driver door.
Blue to GREEN/ YELLOW, as above, double pulse required to unlock.
*If factory horn relay as follows:-
Brown to 86, ground to 85 and 87, link to factory horn wire, GREEN / WHITE from 30.
**If immobilising:-
Orange to 85
Loop from alarm yellow to 86

***Diode separate that blue wire, also join to a second purple yellow, (trunk trigger) also at BCM below radio.
****Trunk release, relay required:-
Grey to 85.
Constant 5 amp fused to 86.

Trunk end to 30
Good ground to 87.
You will need to at least remove the radio, possibly heater controls to access the BCU in centre console or side pieces, steering column cowling (4-5 Phillips screws), drivers lower dash and driver's door panel.
Job should take about 2 hours after stripping plus 1-2 hours on the door.
Once stripped and located, TEST TEST TEST all the vehicle wires before soldering to the alarm's wires, Use a DMM.
You will require a 1N4004 diode across 85 86 terminals on the trunk release, starter cut and horn relay if required, band side to 86.
Relays and diodes available from Radio Shack or wherever you bought the alarm.
TEST all those listed vehicle wires using a DMM for function.TEST all the vehicle wires for function before soldering to the U/start wires.TEST

Thank you so much Howie.  I connected it just as you advised and so far so good.  I just have one questions.  On the 10-wire harness there is a WHITE/ green wire that should go to second unlock output (-), and on the two-wire harness there is a blue wire that goes to Negative Output for Unlock.  You didn't address the WHITE/ Green wire but you addressed the blue wire.  Should these wires be connected together?  Please advise.

Thanks,

SCott

I'm not sure, the instructions for the vehicle say double pulse to unlock, if the U/Start doesn't have that provision in its programming, then yes.

Ignore my last post, ignore the WHITE/ green, sorry I missed it before, just go into the programming, mode 1 level 3 lock types set for double pulse unlock.

Cool.  I'll give it a try and and post my results.

Thanks a lot for your help.  When purchasing the unit, it seemed to be an easy install but these things take time. Slow and patience is the key (and first knowing what you're doing).

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Howie,

Quick question concerning the WHITE/ green wire.  The install guide says "< size=1 face=ArialMT,Italic>< size=1 face=ArialMT,Italic>This wire can be used to install “Driver’s Door Priority”".  I would like to program it so that it does open the driver door on first press and the remaining doors on the second press.  Can I use the WHITE/ green wire to do this?

< size=1 face=ArialMT,Italic>< size=1 face=ArialMT,Italic>

Thanks,
Scott

You will need to do this, uses U/Start and vehicle colours:-
2D3_2nd_unlock_with_low_outputs.bmp
Except I think this is a waste of time because:-
a) It won't turn off the factory alarm.
b) I bet you will get exactly the same result if you had separate arm and disarm buttons on the U/Start fob and simply hit the unlock button once for the driver's door or twice for the others.
How paranoid do you need to be to want priority unlocking anyway?

Thanks howie.  I'm pretty paranoid lol.  I do have separate lock and unlock buttons on the fob.  When I press it once, nothing happens, and when I press it twice, it ulocks everything.  I still havent programmed it yet tho, so I'll progam it as you indicated above and see if anything changes.  Thanks!

Scott
