It's a matter of choice, most of my work involves 1/4" drive, all my sockets and all ratchets bar one are Snap-On, better fit, longer lasting and stronger. I prefer Stanley screwdrivers, and I use a lot of Craftsmen tools. As you say though these other kits have more "bits" so that might make the difference. I can buy a Snap-On small 4 piece pick set for about $20, I've seen equivalent tools unknown brand for $5, they lasted me about a month before either bending or breaking. Even the MAC equivalent isn't as good.
