Hi, Can anyone verify if the 1996 ACURA RL. was equiped with a transponder system. Some paperwork indicates it does, however I typically use fortin bypass modules, and their site does not list a module for this particular vehicle. Or could this be one of those years that you have to see the vehicle first to tell, and if so, is there an easy way to tell, maybe the key itself ?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Yes to Euro spec, no to US,Canada possible.
Either look for a flashing key security icon or drop the cowling around the ignition switch see if you have the plastic encased antenna with two wires.
Or of course remove key well away from vehicle, wait for 2 minutes then try a hot wire.
On that vehicle, should be white to BLACK / YELLOW then flash white to BLACK/ white.
Make sure vehicle is in park or neutral with handbrake on.
If it starts you haven't got a transponder.
There I think that cover's everything.

Or...

Wrap the key head with several ( 4 or 5 ) layers of aluminum foil and try a key start.

Soldering is fun!

Does that really work unless you ground it via the keyhole?
There's always some smart arse when I'm doing a fleet install who reckons they can leave their foil wrapped sandwiches over where they think the GPS antenna is and block it, I never tell them that's only half of it.

I have done it on a few Honda's and Toyota's and it does work.  Can't remember if I tried it with other vehicles.  Just have to use several layers of foil.

Still best to pull the ignition switch / steering column cover and inspect the ignition switch itself.

Soldering is fun!
