Thanks, glad the Pictorial helped.

The White (-)  Door Lock wire at Pin 13 of that plug should work OK with just the standard (-) 200mA Lock output that most systems supply.   If it tests correctly, you could try a manual Lock with a fused jumper wire to chassis ground.  If that works OK, might be the R/S brain.  Test it's output by connecting it to a relay coil and see if it will actuate the relay with a lock command.  What brand and model system are you installing?

I found that the Unlock wire will "go to sleep" when the cars Factory Alarm arms and will need a disarm to wake it up.  A double pulse to the disarm wires shown will also unlock the car.

Soldering is fun!

Thanks for replying. Based on your response I think I may not have provided enough info...sorry. My Avital 4003L is expecting the pulses as OUTPUT from the car, so I have the trigger wire (-) ocnnected to the lock wire of the car (-). The wire in question (same one you referenced) sends the pulse quite fine when I flip the lock button in the door console but does nothing when I use the factory keyless entry fob to lock the doors. Hope I provided enough info to help me or point me in the right direction (or another wire LOL).

Ok.  Info is good.  What you are doing is using the Sonata's Lock pulse to trigger the Avital for a

remote start-up. Instead of using the (-) Lock wire for this, you should use the Lock Motor wire.

Lock Motor   Pink/Black ( 5 wire )     @ dash fuse box, black 39 pin plug (A), pin 34

This wire should test as a (+) pulse during the lock command.  You will need a relay to convert this

(+) signal into the (-) signal the Avital is looking for.  Wire as follows :
Relay Pin 86 to Sonata Lock Motor wire listed above
Relay Pin 85 and 87 to Chassis ground
Relay Pin 30 to Avital (-) Start Input
Relay Pin 87A not used  -  insulate

Now the only problem is :  if you have a U.S. market Sonata with a standard key start ignition, no

bypass module is needed but once the engine is remote started, the Factory FOB's are turned off and
won't unlock the doors.  Most installers would recommend a remote start with keyless entry system for
a vehicle like this.

Soldering is fun!

kreg, thank you again. I was windering re the 5 wire lock motor setup today but had no knowledge of its setup. Your information seem sound! Thank you. I actually put my car back together so as not to drive around today like I stole it (Wires all hanging down etc ). I will utilize your info by Thursday and be sure to let you know the result.
I have a relay that I'll use too, bought one today when I was getting frustrated and decided to test a few wires while I was hitting the remote in the hopes of finding a trigger (+ or -)
thanks.
