Prestige kit isn't sold in the UK but a customer brought one over from a US trip for me to install in a Range Rover. I tried 4 KNOWN tach signal wires, none worked. I went to an injector, still nothing and it wouldn't go into programming mode. In desperation there's an external trigger wire, blue/black(?). I grounded it and everything seemed to come together.
I've since noticed a couple of posts on Prestige R/S with people having similar problems.
hmmm
Interesting. I will try that and let you know how it works.
Thanks.

Tried grounding the ext trigger but still no go. The only thing I haven't connected is the key sense. Still can't program the tach. Does anyone know if key sense has to be operational for RS to work?
Also, is there anyway to reset all the features back to default on the APS997c? Was programming the options when I lost count and can't figure out what I changed.
Thanks.

What voltage AC does the tach wire read with a Digital Multi Meter. Red probe to tach wire black probe to ground.

The manual dosen't list a reset method if Audiovox won't tell you how you will need to go through all the settings 1 by 1 to verify proper settings.

You can try this:
To reset your prestige remote start, first get into your car with your starter and ignition key and leave the driver's door open. Now insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position. Then press and hold the "Valet" button on your remote and wait for the horn to chirp. Now press and hold the "Valet" button again and press and release the starter button on your remote. Wait for the horn to chirp again and release the "Valet" button to end the programming sequence.

Any one else noticed a plague of questions/problems that seem to have arisen with A/Vox/Prestige/Code products recently, mainly tach and programming?

I have a very old multimeter so no AC but it does have a low and high tachometer. I tested the OEM RS tach line and nothing, that explains why the Prestige doesn't get the tach signal so I tested the ODBII connector and got a signal on the orange line however it's way off: idle was reading at ~1500 rpm so something is wrong with that. Next I tested the diagnostics connector under the hood and viola it works! Now I need to figure out where that line goes to and connect to that! RS used to be so easy to install....I miss those days! LOL

Did you mean the valet button connected to the module?

If the tach wire that you got the 1500 rpm from changes when you idle it up then the brain should be able to learn it, and work for the remote start.
