indeed it is a good possibility that this could end up in the repair shop, i did say that this was risky business, but nothing interesting would ever be learned by just leaving these things alone. if he is brave enough to try and knows the risks then i feel the least i can do is help
honestly, im probably about to try something like this on my own truck except that i want to interface the max ac controls so that they come on even if i have them turned off. it wouldnt be such a big problem if louisiana didnt have such random weather.

Oh hell, I ripped the Lear made BCM apart on my own Rover (basically a FWD 5 Series BMW), to get deadlock on arm and normal RPM locking having driven off, plus mirror slope on reverse etc. etc.
I had the advantage though of a downloaded factory service manual.
I would heartily recommend that and the ability to read and understand the flow patterns.

you must have been bored that day... what could possibly be gained by interfacing the mirror slope on reverse?

Spot on there young man, I reverse back parallel to the kerb on my off-street parking area, don't want to damage my tyres.
That day I also extended the lead from the factory auto-changer so I could move it from the glovebox to under the passenger seat, got rid of the original CD Sat -Nav and analogue (no longer used in the UK) TV tuner, now lots of space for WD, moisture displacer, long cable ties and all the test gear in the rear side pockets.
I think I've now made room for one of the original Bazooka amplified tubes in the cargo area (it's a Tourer, A.K.A station wagon).
