Actually, with nearly all makes of vehicle EXCEPT Ford and Mazda, the second chip DOESN'T interfere with the first so the OP is quite correct.

UPDATE: my factory alarm system(Horn and lights)still works...tried the door lock trick again (lock truck then open from inside handles...and horn and lights went off so that is good. I am assuming at this point the wire is cut to security indicator light or the bulb to it is burnt out. I hope it is wire as I do not want to pull instrument cluster out to replace bulb...more than likely wire is cut somewhere as it was posted this is normal practice to install remote starts (immbolizer bypass)

if your pathfinder is the same as my frontier then the security light wire is coming from the BCM which should be above the steering column towards the right side of the column. i think it is a GREEN/ orange wire. if you stick your head under the dash by the gas pedal and look straight up then you should be able to see it if that is where they made the connection. you should also see some other wires connected in this location.
if this is the case then you will also need to re connect the ignition wire that also would be cut in order to install a bypass. not sure what color it would be but it would be the only other wire at the bcm that should be cut.
maybe try posting a picture of the area and i could be of more help to you.

I know by serv manual that security indicator is connected to fusebox j/b at fuse 19 and to bcm at location 23 at port 18. It says wire is green and I do see bcm to right and above gas pedal. I will look for green wire and ignition as well. If you need full service manual I found site for all nissans that has fsm in .pdf file format. It really helps and I downloaded entire manual. Thanks again!

Got indicator light working!...wire was cut in half and run into remote start harness. Reconnected wire and it came right on! Works correctly now flashing every few seconds. Now....I cannot get truck into program mode with key in and out of ignition to program new keyless fob. I have tried a million times with varying speeds...no flashing lights to indicate program mode....ugggh

Just do google search for: nicoclub/fsm, then select year and model. All of them are there in full PDF glory! I cannot get truck into program mode. Remote system is disabled as I pulled fuses to it. Program mode didn't work with them in there either. Thanks for all of your help with this.

not sure but it might have something to do with the ignition wire i mentioned earlier that also would need to be cut in order to install the bypass. if the security light was cut then the ignition wire is probably cut too. i have no idea what functions depend on that ignition wire but its a good place to start looking. just like an alarm needs to see an ignition input, the trucks BCM probably needs to see it too and a bypass probably uses it the same way to trick the bcm into operating the locks and bypassing the antitheft.
