I'm about to install a remote start on the wife 2012 Kia Sorento. I was looking at the factory alarm disarm and it list 2 wires that I need to tap into but then it says look at Tech Doc 1300. I know that sounds like a DEI document which I always have a hard time getting a hand on. Does anyone have this? I saw the pictorial of the 2 cable for unlocking/disarm factory alarm, I just need help with just a verbal or/and the Tech Doc 1300.
Thanks
Carlos

Search the downloads section here for "1300" and you will see Tech Doc 1300 for Hyundai/Kia Locks.

Man I have been a member of this site for almost 10 years and never notice that tab, Thanks Franks!
Quick question, seems straight forward but just wanted to verify that the Pink and Gray factory disarm cable is the Lock detection cable?
Thanks
Carlos

The pink is the factory disarm wire.
The gray is the lock/unlock detection wire.
Here is how Directwire lists them.
Factory Alarm Arm
BROWN / org (key lock), gray (lock/unlock detection)   - and open
dash fuse box, white 26 pin plug (FK), pins 21 and 26
Factory Alarm Disarm
pink (key unlock), gray (lock/unlock detection)        both -
dash fuse box, white 26 pin plug (FK), pins 9 and 26
hope that helps! 2012 kia sorento factory alarm disarm -- posted image.

So Finally got around to do this. I have a little issue:
I follow the diagram and set everything up. The issue is the the lock part works just fine. The unlock part seems to not be working properly. I have to hit unlock on the remote twice to get it to unlock. i have to do it twice right away for it to unlock. I do have the unlock set yo double pulse. What else am I missing. I hooked the unlock wire to the BROWN / Orange unlock cable. That is right?

What i do on these cars is connect the pink unlock, the gray detection, and the gray/black switch unlock all together(diode isolated) and use it for unlock/disarm. Works every time with no double pulse needed. BROWN / orange is not the unlock wire, it is key lock....

Yea, I meant pink for unlock.    Do you not follow the techdocs and just connect those 3 wires together with diodes? I would see how that would work. I already have the gray wire cut and with the relay but If I can take the relay out and hook all of those wire with separate diodes, I would take the relay out

Actually after a little more troubleshooting I found out that the double pulse unlock was only doing a single pulse. After resetting the alarm to defaults and then resetting all the settings, everything is working.

I'm actually still curious about Mike's method. Is that instead of doing the relay? What is needed for the lock / arm?
