Would you be kind enough to explain how that works? With higher level Viper models, you cut the car starter wire. Then one Viper wire to the key side, and one Viper wire to the starter side. So my brain can picture what the onboard relay is doing to prevent grinding.
With the 4704, there's nothing electrically to stop the key from grinding the starter, since the 4704's wire is spliced into the car starter wire, and cannot prevent current from travelling further down it.... viper 4704v anti grind - Page 2 - Last Post -- posted image.

Just guesswork but picture that relay diagram. As I said its internal and by programming you configure it as either 87 or 87a connected.
Try Googling or searching this site for "anti-grind" relays, it might give you a better in-sight than the one I've just given you.
