I'll keep trying. That's why I asked about the confirmation.

Are you getting any chirps from the siren to indicate you are in the menus?  Do you have one of the door triggers wires connected? Either the Neg or Pos door trigger? The unit need to see one of those to enter into the menus.

And going back to the starter kill not working. I disconnected every wire on the 10 pin harness, reconnected them all, turned the key it worked, but not for very long. Tested all the wires at the harness with the key in the start position I got 12 volts. I have a good connection but it still doesn't work.

Doesn't really answer the previous question.  All experienced installers will agree that T-Taps, ScotchLocks and any "quick connect" type connector will not give reliable service.  Making quality solder connections will remove that issue completely.

Soldering is fun!

ok but I have power. regardless of how it's connected with 12 going to the unit it should work. I don't have 12 going out to the starters.

While it is not unheard of, I would place a Viper "out of box failure" at the tail end of my list of things that could be wrong with my installation.

The Viper is a sophisticated system ( "designed for professional installation", as mentioned in their guides ) that involves more than just connecting the wires.  Things like option programming, Passlock2 bypass, Tach or Virtual Tach learning, hood pin, brake status and the Neutral Safety wire must all be addressed ( and sometimes in order ) to complete the install.

Soldering is fun!

everything else works. that's why I believe it's a faulty system. and it's not complicated ive installed plenty of viper alarms but this is my first 5704. i didn't know if this system was known to have issues! and if anyone could offer advice to trouble shooting this system.
