Kreg357  I understand that there isnt anyone familar with these modules. But why would howie troll my post. He hasnt offered any help. Dude comes out with "here in the real world." I greet new users with a welcome and thanks for contributing to the forum. I see no reason to put up with some donut hole who thinks he knows something but 'here in the real world' he hasnt offered any knowledgable response.

This is getting really daft.
Real world means ADVICE with the best intention based on my experience plus at least half a dozen others.
Example did an install for a customer with 3 THREE Clifford AG 5.5's, IMO still the best quality unit on the market, all purchased from fleabay, finally got one to work out of the three.
That's the real world sunshine. And I can call up DEI tech at any time.
Remotes, Clifford changed the AG 5 remote, in the UK from the 650 to 650 Mk ll.
The new remote WON'T work with the old and vice versa.
Ask Kregg about pairing DEI remotes with a 5301.
That's the REAL WORLD.
In plain English you're bloody delusional if you think anything you have is going to work.

This reply was written while Howie II made the above post but is still valid. Sorry for the length...
Sorry, can't really speak for Howie II. I know from personal experience, the amount of
damage a poorly installed, poorly designed, or low quality remote start system can cause
with the electronics in the newer vehicles. Blowing a fuse is the least of your worries.
As an ASE mechanic I'm sure you would counsel a customer that came into your shop with
no name, foreign manufacture ceramic brakes pads with visible manufacturing defects and
asked you to install them on his vehicle. You can imagine the law suit your shop is going to
be involved in if the brakes fail and cause an accident.
I didn't answer your original post because I don't have any first hand knowledge of the
brands and models you mentioned. Having been a member of this forum for a while, I
have seen posts go un-answered for days, the OP will bump and still no reply. That's
strange because there are many very knowledgeable members on this site but occasionally
it happens. You have probably seen this on the other sites you frequent. This usually
occurs on the off-the-wall type questions ( yours wasn't ) like "I just picked up the
ceramic brake rotors, calipers and pads from a wrecked Enzo Ferrari. Can I install them on
my 1986 5.0 notch-back Mustang if I switch to 5 bolt wheels?" With your background, you
know that you can make anything work but there is a lot more involved. And the first obvious
question is WHY. The second is how much time and money do you want to spend.
Anyway, I digress.   From my own experience, as an example, I steer clear of remote start
systems that use the oil pressure sender instead of a Tachometer signal. It's a dead give
away that the system was poorly designed and will cause problems. I'm sure you have
found similar tell-tales in you line of expertise, too.
As a side note, Howie II, myself and others have spent many hours assisting fellow
members trying to install odd-ball systems ( like the ICBM7071 and others ) using poorly
translated, extremely brief and sometimes inaccurate manuals posted by the OP with
their question. These posts have gone on for weeks / months and have upwards of 8 pages.
We are willing to help and yes, sometimes a warning or bit of advise precedes the desired
assistance.

thanks kreg. you make valid points. I understand your reply and thank you for your input. However, I dont know what I did to offend the red coat over there(My name is john, not sunshine). You should world on your people skills. Anywho, I have obtained a remote for the carbine system and its just hooked up on my bench. It seems to be a descent unit,

Howie, I will say this, I should have just taken your advice. But you start throwing terms around that make it seem as if I dont know exactly what these modules are... poop. I have a viper 600esp(old) currently installed and I think the manual is like 47 pages long. You get what you pay for and I wouldnt recommend anyone buy these units. However, I dont see alot of infor for these 2 units. I thought that this thread might br able to bring together the scarce info out there on them.

Does anyone on the forum have a good suggestion on a unit for my wifes car? 1994 honda civic ex auto. I looked through the buy/sell section (that is what made me think the forum was dead).

You're right I'll "word" on my people skills while you work on your spelling and attitude.
Of course I'm right, as Kregg will confirm I'm ALWAYS right.
And as a southern cracker you will notice I have a name.
Now that you phrased the last question decently anything from DEI; Viper, Avital, Clifford etc. Audiovox/Code Alarm and Compustar are the industry leaders, all good product and will work nicely with your wife's Civic, so if you have any install questions feel free to ask. (Nicely).

For vehicle wiring, here are some sources :
Here is a link to Bulldog Security : http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp
Here is a link to Ready Remote : http://www.readyremote.com/main.asp
Here is a link to AudioVox : http://techservices.audiovox.com/AccessRequest.aspx    Sign-up & info is free.
The civic is a very popular vehicle and straight forward to do. There is no transponder system so
no need for a bypass module. The big questions are:
Do you want remote start? Do you want an alarm system? Or both?
How much range do you need? Do you want two-way confirming remotes or just one-way?
You are right about not too much in the For Sale section. My guess is two main reasons. The cost
of a brand new system isn't all that high and with anything electronic, used isn't a real good idea. I
have been burnt a few times with used remotes and other items over the years and no one will
guarantee them.
As Howie II mentioned, any major brand will perform well if installed properly. I have had off brands
like Bulldog Security work flawlessly in personal vehicles for many years.   Just remember that all
the major brands will not provide Technical Support to DIYers / end users. They even make it difficult
to get the full installation manuals. Fortunately most of those install guides can be found in the
Downloads Section or online

Yes, this is about the only place for the manuals.

I would like to do a full install. That means. Remote start, Window module including sunroof. I see there are alot of add ons for DEI systems. I have a viper 600esp with a ready remote module for remote start. As I said I'm ASE, so the wiring on these 2 cars are very straight forward.

I see on new units that the range increases with the price. Im not looking to drop $1000. $400 including sensors and window modules. Im not sure about what add ons to lean towards either.

Im sorry I made a spelling mistake. opps  Didnt mean to offend you. And furthermore all my questions were asked nicely so... troll on.

Oh and that remoark about you being right is not valid. That is your opinion on these modules that you havent had any hands on with I assume. The carbine seems to be a solid unit. Old but solid. So dont think something is doodie just because its not a popular brand. Take Skunk2 and Spoon for honda. They were what people like you would have called crappy aftermarket parts. Now they are building 1000hp civics and s2k out of these doodiety aftermarket parts. Its all your opinion. You offered no help. SO again I say... troll on red coat. haha

So you don't want me to teach you how to do a roof close on that car without the need for a closer? Fine cracker.
