Hi guy,

i've try to install my old viper 130XV that i have on an older car into my girlfriend truck. A 2001 dodge caravan. When it was installed on my old car, it was working perfect. On the dodge caravan there was already a remote starter that was not working. IT was a GIT spa2000. I hook up all the wire for my viper remote starter, i try it and it crank like 3 or 4 time and stop cranking without starting.

why does it stop cranking like that? it is possible that my tach wire is the problem? Or it only a programmation question?

The problem with the old remote starter (the GIT spa2000) that was already installed on the caravan was almost the opposite of my viper model problem. It won't stop cranking without starting. You had to press the button to make it stop cranking.

So any idea?

BTW. I'm glad to be part of that forum. I like working with wire and all that stuff.

have a good day

What are you using for a transponder bypass? Try holding the key to the ignition cylinder and press the remote start button. If it works, it's a transponder issue.
Where do you have the tach wire from the Viper system connected to on the vehicle?

i don't use any transponder. I don't have any anti-thief system on that van. The tach seem to be connected directly at the PCM. I used the same wire for the tach that was already used by the old remote starter system. Maybe i should try to put the tach wire at the ignition coil harness. But not sure if it's the cause of the problem.
