You cannot wire a key in box type transponder bypass into the factory transponder ring of a BMW. You must install the supplied antenna ring for the bypass to work properly. Also set the jumper to the high winding count position.
This information is provided only as a reference.
All circuits should be verified with a digital multi-meter prior to making any connections.

Care to share how you did it? Might help someone who is reading this in the future.

If you look at the instructions that came with the 556U ,on one of the pages it tells you how to integrate the 556U with the factory transponder ring. Basically what it says is that the 556U ring has to be cut off and one of the wire on the BMW's transponder plug has to be cut in half and the 556U wires has to be connected to the the cut wire (European car integration instruction on the 556U)....... Hope this helps.

Yes triniforever is correct. I did a 3 series a few days ago and wired it in with a 556u. You can also use a compustran and wrap the hell out of the cylinder and it would work well. Also, be careful with the connector at the immobilizer ring. It can get loose and cause the vehicle not to turn on.
