if the actuator has more than enough strength to unlatch the latch, you can try adding a return spring to pull the actuator back to the at-rest position. you'd need to use a relay to drive the actuator. use relay to convert negative output to a positive, ground other lead of actuator. also if the trunk is too heavy it may relatch after power is removed.
