remote start on 78 nova

Ok I'm try the siren and see what happens I grounded the siren and hit to the pos lead and it worked so on the alarm what do I connect the pos wire to on the alarm1993 sdv

On the wiring diagram the trunk release is neg but I thought it was grounded thru the car and had a positive lead coming out of it1993 sdv

I cleaned the wire and it looks more Orange I hit red wire to it and grounded the horn I got nothing1993 sdv

DEI siren output is brown connect to red on siren, ground RED / black on siren.Test before boxing up.

I got that I'm talking about wiring straight to power ground .in the post above it states connect the sirens positive to the Brown wire on tbe distributor. I got it all wired up and I used the cars factory radio harness for the relay for the pop trunk function and it kept blowing the cars light cluster fuse. So I'm thinking tapping in the main ignition accessory wire for the relay1993 sdv

I'm usually not one to chastise or critic another. I never stated to connect the sirens positive wire to the brown on the distributor. The brown on the alarm module connects to the positive wire (red) on the siren. You asked about wiring the trunk release, then added a question about the tach connection. As for the fuse blowing, which fuse is blowing? Your solenoid used is what type? Does it have any specifications/ratings? Using common sense as someone with 12volt background I would hope has, the two are entirely unrelated. If I were you, I'd do some research on installing an alarm/remote start system. I believe that may assist you more as I can't see exactly what you are doing.

As in the solenoid I had it laying around so I believe its a 30 lb. You told me to wire the solenoid to a relay .the relay needs a acc wire so I used the factory radio harness and it worked for a lil after mesing with the pop trunk feature the dash display fuse blew so I disconnected it and figure I use the main acc on the column. As for doing more research on RS I agree I pulled the alarm and I'm start from scratch.1993 sdv

Not knowing exactly which solenoid you have, I'm guessing you overloaded the circuit. It would be best for the solenoid circuit to have its own independent fuse with wiring appropriately sized. A battery (full time) circuit as compared to an accessory (switched) circuit may work better. It would allow operation of the solenoid at any time. And of course now rereading, your tach query also had siren questions added to it.

Pretty much the deal with this car is everything is manual so if I add something I have to run straight from the battery. the only acc is the radio or the main from the steering column . I could tap into the fuse box but I've been avoiding the cars electrical system due to age and lower amperage requirements. I was thinking run a 8 guage from the battery and feeding the alarm off that as for a acc I haven't figured tht out how I'm do that.1993 sdv
