I am thinking of installing a viper 5704 for a friend of mine on an 07 gmc sierra classic 2500 hd with a diesel engine. I am a mechanic but have never done a remote start system. Maybe I should run from it, but thought I might enjoy the challenge of it and help a friend out. What do I need to know? In my research it looked as though I needed another module to run door locks etc. I ordered a dei 555lw. Is that really what I need? Also I would appreciate any wiring diagram help you can give along with any advice. Thanks!

It would require far less wiring with a DB-ALL2 although more expensive. No key lost.
You must purchase it pre-flashed with the software to match your vehicle.
Test before boxing up.

Ok thanks pentavolvo! I'm sorry I told you wrong in the first post. I actually got a dei 456g instead of a 555lw. Will that work for the door locks and security on this pickup?

One thing to keep in mind on the diesel pickups is that you must hook up a tach wire. For whatever reason on the 05-07 GM diesel pickups, the alternator doesn't kick in unless the battery is below 12 volts. This had me fooled on the couple of trucks I did. The 08 and up models do not operate like this.

Thanks for ur help! I bought a dball2 with software installed for my 07 Sierra Classic and finally got it put in. Door locks work fine but no remote start. I'm getting an error code that has to do with the turbo timer? I did not hook that wire up on the remote start. Is that necessary and what would I connect it to?

Assuming the vehicle is auto then reprogram it for automatic, level 3 feature 1 option 2.
If manual you didn't enter manual transmission reservation mode, see the owner's handbook.

Ok. Here is how I have the wires connected. Remember, I have an 07 GMC Sierra 2500 Diesel with an automatic transmission. I am installing a Viper 5704 remote start and using a DBALL2 in DRD mode(I believe) with it.

H3/9 RED / black (+) fused 30a accessory/starter input - connected to same wire at ignition harness as I connected H3/2(RED / white)
H3/10 no connection
1. This is how I wired it up with one mistake I noticed just tonight. I had H2/24 on the 24 pin connector of the viper going to pin 3 of 12 pin connector on dball2. I need to fix this like I have it listed above.
2. Right now the remote start will not work. Door locks work fine. Do you see anything that could be the cause of no remote start? I did get it to remote start once by turning the ignition to run and then pushing remote start button, but it would not shut off with remote.
3. Do I need to wire in a relay for the 2nd accessory brown wire near ignition harness?
4. My alternator is currently not charging. Could the brown 2nd accessory wire not being connected be the problem?
5. I have programmed it for automatic transmission, and to use the wait to start light as I have it wired that way.
I am a total rookie at this! If you have questions on what I wrote here please ask and I will do my best to clarify. Thanks in advance.
