weird intermittent start problem 2011 camaro

Hey ok, I just installed the Flashlogic FLCAN...doors and trunk work properly, im using a push start system to add Push Start to my camaro. I would say 97% of the time when I push the button the lights in the vehicle light up, they go off as normal when it tries to start but the car doesnt start(starter never engages).....If I try the second time the car starts EVERYTIME lol. So for some reason on the first attempt it doesn't start but on the second attempt it does...weird...I have had maaybe 2-3% success rate that it would actually start on the first attempt. Any thoughts?? Thanks

Looking at guide #13595 rev. Jan 21st, 2014 I have done 2 of these cars in hardwire mode with no issues. I promise FL will ask if it is in d2d or hard wire, and if it is in d2d they will tell you to hardwire it. To master and control electricity is perfection. *evil laugh*

yea i have it hardwired....i guess im just going to have to narrow down to whats different with the second attempt compared to the first attempt....i think i might have it somewhat narrowed down to maybe it being my push start unit...if i crank it up and i can turn it off turn it on turn it off turn it on etc with the button no problem....if i arm the car then come back and unarm the car...it wont start till the 2nd attempt

Did you make your connections at the BCM as the install guide stated or did you make your connections at the OBDII and Ignition Module?? i made my connections there instead of the BCM because they were easier to get to...wasn't sure if that made a difference or not. Thanks

I always do it at the bcm. If it is your car I would suggest yanking down the air vent and then cutting the part off flush that goes around the vent that stays in the dash. Hard to describe but the only way to get it back in place. As long as you dont cut too much the vent will still function fine. Post a pic of the vent and I can show you where to cut it if you like.To master and control electricity is perfection. *evil laugh*

well i had already had the passlock wire going to the BCM...ive been able to just unplug the plug and splice into the necessary wire....i have moved my ignition and accessory wires to the BCM....right now im still only getting a successful crank on the second attempt...so i guess im just gonna move them one by one...from what i understand the FLCAN unit sends the start signal to the vehicle....do you know if that is done through the CANH, CANL, or SWC wire??

i think ive narrowed my issue down to it being my RS....i think maybe the GWR signal is coming on slightly after my ignition and accessory wires are being powered on and i think its not causing the FLCAN to activate on the first attempt...is there anything I could do to maybe delay the ignition/accessory signal even by maybe milliseconds......i say this because i can manually ground the FLCAN and it will start up on the first attempt from my RS. Thanks

I saw your posts about this at 12voltdata.com too, and I forgot to reply to them! Maybe you can find some sort of signal in the car, possibly combined with a timer relay, that will ground the FLCAN earlier than the push-to-start system will. Of course, you want to find some kind of signal that will only make a ground when the owner of the car is present---you wouldn't want the car to be stolen easily. So, you could find some sort of signal that requires the OEM Camaro remote, or at least a signal that a thief wouldn't bump into by accident. Not sure how good you are with wiring up relays and such, and how/where to incorporate diodes, but I can throw out a few ideas. ---Use the signal going to the driver's door unlock actuator to trip a timer relay, to supply GWR to the module for a certain amount of time. (Also connect it in some way so that if BOTH doors unlock at the same time, the system won't work....must be DRIVER door only, that way, only OEM remote will activate timer relay.) ---Maybe there is a usable signal at the seat belt latch. Set it up so that putting on your seat belt grounds the GWR. ---Maybe you could do the same as above, but with the parking brake signal. Or better yet, combine the parking brake signal, and the seat belt signal, so that both are required for starting. ---Which lights on your car flash when you unlock with OEM remote? It should be either parking lights or turn signals, but you'd have to check. Anyway, you could have the light activate a timer relay, which activates GWR for a certain amount of time to give you a "grace period" to start the car.....hopefully/probably a car thief would never think to turn on the lights to get the car to start. I've never used one myself, but look into timer relay PAC TR-& or DEI 528-something. Also, if you're new to relays, remember that a relay must never remain energized while the car is parked, or it will drain the battery. It's OK to energize the relay for a few minutes when you arrive at the car, but be sure NOT to configure any setup that would leave a relay on all night.

Hey Thanks for your input on this...I found this relay diagram what do you think about this setup.... i won't be using the OEM remote at all just the RS remote...so i can you the negative unlock pulse of the system to turn on the relay which would output to the GWR wire of the FLCAN...and use the lock pulse to turn off the relay??? or maybe even use the GWR signal from my RS to turn off the relay unit while also activating the FLCAN.
