I have a viper 5704 I installed it on my 99 gmc safari. Kinda thinking now I should have left it to a pro or someone who installs these frequently. Everything was working Ok until the other day I hooked up my trailer I was doing some towing. And when i finished up with my work the van wouldn't start with the key but it still starts with the remote, I then noticed my brake lights were not working it was a blown fuse. so I changed the fuse. ..
Well Still I can only start the van with the remote the key won't start the van. And another thing I noticed when I remote start it. when I hit the brake pedal the vehicle continues running!? Even when I remote start while armed hitting the brakes does nothing it just continues to run. What's going on?

My research turned up a possible bad onboard starter kill relay. . But I don't understand what that has to do with the brake pedal not killing the ignition when in remote start?

Yeah I checked all the vehicle fuses & all the fuses for the remote start. . They look fine! I got the brake lights working again ughh frustrating. . But where There's a will there's a way! I will keep trying. Maybe I'll jumper over the starter kill wires then try to key start it that should eliminate a problem on the vehicle side right? And that would most likely leave the viper brain in question.?

Internal relay problems apart from the 01 series were virtually none-existent.
How have you connected the green at H3 to the key side of the starter wire?
Solder? Taps?
BTW a fuse doesn't look good until you've tested it with a DMM.

Following on, take a DMM and measure continuity between ignition switch starter side and your green terminal on the H3 plug.
Or, test light to ignition switch starter wire then other end to ground.
Look to illuminate on key start at that point and again the green at H3.

I will try that thanks. I did solder all my connections. But maybe I missed something.

So I parked the van in my air conditioned garage. . Because I have it all apart for diagnostics. .But this morning it fired right up! Everything was back to working like it should.
But I knew it would be back, so i tested all my wiring on the remote start h3 and I have continuity all The way threw.. so I did a wire jiggle test and still no break in continuity. . So all seems fine there. that to me left the ignition switch or power to the IGN switch in question (as howie recommended to check)I found intermittent power coming out of my ignition switch.
know I just need to figure out which wire supplies power to the ign switch, So I can accurately say it's the switch........ ...hmmm wait a sec If it was a power source problem to the switch it would be more than just cranking problems right?

Yes but you have separate ACC, IGN, START and maybe secondaries.
It might be just the starter wire, also o0n second thoughts, this time test the violet at H3 assuming green tests out OK.

Oh I see, So it could just be the start contact in the IGN switch? And the other contacts are OK. I checked the power source to the IGN switch It is constant.
