Is there a way I can increase range on my keyless entry?

Factory or aftermarket ? If aftermarket, does it come with a co-axial antenna ?

It is an aftermarket and it isn't a co-axial antenna.

If the unit has an antenna that you mount by the rear view mirror, make wure that the antenna is below the tint of the glass ( if applicable ). Also, make sure that the antenna cable does not have any breaks in the insulation as this will reduce range by inducing EMI through the broken housing.

Hello,

I know this thread is a few weeks old, but I noticed Velocity Motors asked the original poster if he had a factory or aftermarket keyless entry...

Is there any way to increase the range on a FACTORY Keyless system (GM)???

OEM systems do not use any type of antenna so there's no way you can extend any wires to give you better range. This is from personal experience and if there is a way, I have not heard or seen it.

There is a way, laugh if you will, but if you hold the remote to your chin, you can have gains of up to 250ft., your body carries a natural RF or RH signal, can't remember which, but anywho, it works.lol
Don't share too many install secrets with your customers, pretty soon they won't need you!!!!!

Actaully, I've heard of this and I've tried a different method where you place your index finger and thumb on the antenna of the remote control in a pinch grip. This gave me extra range ( don't know how much though) but it worked better ( I have a 2 way system that let's me know if the receiver got the signal or not ).

general ideas:
a: mount the antenna in the A-pillar so that it's as high as possible, beneath that plastic cover next to the windshield. (I get massive range that way on my Jeep with the Ungo remotes)
b: replace batteries in remote(s)
c: (nifty trick) press your remote's end (above the buttons) against your jaw, under your chin when pressing the button. This takes the RF antenna in the remote and uses your entire body as an antenna for it. I could disarm my old Alpine 8010 alarm from about 200+ yards away using this trick when I was in college and walking down the hill to the parking lot where my car sat (yeah yeah I'm in my 30s.. that was a long time ago haha). It was amazing.. heh I could barely see the parking lights flash from that distance, but it worked.
d: get a better keyless entry system/alarm (hehe just teasing)
e: stop locking your car.. it just creates more hassle when you wanna get back in. (hehe)
Good Luck

holy crap, this "putting the remote under your chin" is the funniest thing I've ever heard.  I can't wait to try it!

I also have an aftermarket keyless entry, but it's not a coaxial antenna.  I can't really mount the antenna much higher than where your knees are when driving.  The antenna is fairly short (12"), and the module has to stay down there cause I have so many wires and relays attached to it.

Can you extend the antenna wire somehow, like how you would extend a normal wire....or can you not do this with "antenna" wire?  I'm thinking not cause someone would have suggested it before I bet.

THANKS!  <put's remote to chin>
